STANDS FOR INTERNET PROTOCOL ADDRESS:

It is a unique number provided to each and every device. It is in the form of intergic number and seperated by dot .

EXAMPLE:

192.168.10.26

ADDRESSING:

• IP (logical)
• MAC(physical)

IP address divides in two parts:

IPV4:

• Length 32 bits
• Octet 4
• Rnage 0 to 255
• 4 billion IP address

IPV6:

• Length 128 bits
• Octet 8
• length FFFF(65535)
• 340 trillion IP address

NOTE:

There are many number of people in the world. In the IPV4(version) there are less possibility to use the IP adress individually. So to fulfill the need and requirements of each person individually there is a need of a letest version that is in the form of IPV6.And now each person has an unique IP address.

USES OF IP:

• Private IP ( for any personal use there is need of IP address)
• Public IP ( for use of public like as a website)

CLASSES OF IP:

• Class A
• Class B
• Class C
• Class D 
• Class E

NOTE:

There are five classes of IP adress and 1st three are provided for  common use . and 4th and 5th for multitasking and research process etc.
